Why would YOU need Coaching or Counselling?
Maybe you're thinking "I don't need help" or "What can someone else tell me that I don't already know?" or "I've got my friends to talk to..."
You may be surprised - I was!
My whole life I've been a big talker, I analyse everything, I test my perspectives with my friends to compare ideas and work through problems over and over, driving myself and them half-mad in the process. I'm always hunting for knowledge, researching and taking courses on both relevant and random topics, looking for new insights and techniques to try out. I experiment with different ways of acting, thinking, and being. I take pride in the drive to improve myself, my life, my work and everything I do.
As a result of all this learning, researching, analysing, debating and discussing, I thought there was no way one individual could add much to what I already knew. That is, until I met my coach!
Originally it was a hypnosis session to quit smoking, but then I realised he could actually give me different perspectives on things that were going on in my life that I hadn't considered myself or with my friends. Shocking I know!
The problem with taking advice only from friends is that they are biased by their own experiences and by what they already know about you. Similarly, the difficulty with relying only on yourself is you can only reflect and compare with what's happened in your own life. Further, it is impossible for you to be truly unbiased about yourself - your ideas will be influenced by your culture, society, family, friends, work, prior decisions you've made and countless other factors.
Amongst many benefits, I have found it incredibly useful to have an outsider's view, someone trained in the right areas, and particularly someone unbiased and not invested in what happens to me in my life (other than professionally). With my coach, I've talked about all aspects of my life, he challenges my views and beliefs, and guides my decision-making. I've tried new things I wouldn't have dreamed of without his suggestions. Yes, even coaches need a coach!

A bit about Me...
I have spent a long time figuring out what would be my ideal life and every day brings me a step closer. I don't consider any of this time wasted as I wouldn't be who I am today without the experiences, challenges and triumphs. So let me give you a brief rundown of what I'm all about.
In my teens I developed a strong interest in psychology, forensics and criminology. I mulled over questions like: Why do some people think and react in completely different ways to others, given the same basic situation? Could some people just be born bad or does something cause them to change? How much of what we do is genuinely free-will or is it conditioned and we are just unaware of it?
Unfortunately, this interest was quashed by the expectations of the world on a maths geek Londoner with a weird creative side! As a result, I foolishly allowed myself to be talked out of psychology as a career path at the impressionable age of 18. I ended up with a Maths degree and in the world of business in my early twenties, meandering through accountancy, actuarial work, and investment and banking.
Shaking it Up...
By my mid-twenties I was fed up with the grey climate and a fairly grey existence and took off travelling. The original plan was a six month trip around Asia which turned into a year, a stint living in Vietnam, and finally emigrating to Australia. Travelling has been and will always remain a major part of my life, there is so much variety in the world to see and experience, and so many different people to learn from. When I finally settled in Australia, I knew I had to figure out the kind of career I wanted, which resulted in a wealth of experience in management consulting and business improvement, working with all company sizes and in all the major industries and finally a ten page resumé!
Over the years, psychology and personal development have remained a major interest, and I started to consider whether all the analytical skills I was applying to improving businesses could actually be better applied to helping people to improve their lives. And so, my new career was born! Through all these experiences, and applying coaching and psychology techniques to my own life, I noted and developed a strength, ability and desire to work with others to overcome their obstacles and create their ideal world.
I hold tertiary qualifications in the fields of coaching, counselling, business, mathematics and art, and have taken a multitude of psychology courses. I have more hobbies and ambitions than time, but am steadily achieving my goals!
Now, I spend my time helping others, people like you, break free of self and society-imposed restrictions to discover what their true path should be.

My unique combination of coaching with counselling provides a great approach to positively transforming your life, improving your mental and physical well-being, focus, purpose and happiness. This approach bridges the past, present and future, and can provide you with exceptional outcomes. I will help you find solutions rather than dwelling on problems and the past.
My training covers many different coaching and counselling techniques including: learning and personality theories, cognitive-behavioural, solution-focussed, narrative, Gestalt, neuro-linguistic programming (NLP), emotionally-focussed or person-centred approaches, along with the Sherpa Coaching technique, the GROW model and the Co-active Coaching model.
If you have a preference we can certainly work with a specific approach, if not, I will tailor what works for your needs, rather than choosing a single method. I work best through open and honest discussion, from a strong analytical and objective perspective and a well-studied interest in people, psychology and the mind. This has allowed me to develop high awareness and problem-solving abilities which have been incredibly useful in making improvements in my own and others' lives.
