What would you try if you knew you could not fail?
How can Coaching help you?
Maybe you are pretty satisfied with your life but feeling unsettled, unmotivated, ignoring your dreams, or feeling stuck and powerless. Maybe it isn't extreme, perhaps you just have a constant niggling feeling something isn't quite right or could be better.
You probably already develop your physical fitness and other skills, why not also work on your mental fitness? Coaching is for people who want positive change and improvement in their lives, those who are achieving ordinary but seek extraordinary!
If you feel like you don't know what you want, where you're going, or how you're going to get there, then Coaching is for you.
Sometimes it can feel like life takes its own direction and results in blocks which are out of your control. In reality:
- Any decisions and direction are personal choices, life is not uncontrolled;
- The greatest obstacles to success are internal, not external.
From these beliefs come the reality that it is possible for anyone to create new options, overcome obstacles and transform.
"Success is not final, failure is not fatal, it's the courage to continue that counts" - Winston Churchill

Motivators for Coaching
The 2009 ICF Global Coaching Client Study helps understand why people seek coaching, including life, executive and business coaching. At the top of the list of people's top 3 reasons for seeking coaching were:
- Self-esteem/self-confidence (41%)
- Work/life balance (36%)
- Career opportunities (28%)
- Business management (25%)
- Relationships (25%)
The study also concluded that the majority of clients are very satisfied with coaching, 96% indicated that they would repeat the experience.
Some of the main coaching areas are listed below with links to further information. Coaching will typically take a holistic approach, across all life aspects; generally if one area is weaker this will flow through to other areas in some manner so it is important to look at the inter-relationships. This means you may find the discussion explores other parts of your life if you are comfortable with this.
Examples of focus areas include:
- Having chosen an undesirable career path but change is limited by finances or family
- Working long hours leaving little time for positive relationships or health
- Relationship problems, either personal or work, which are being ignored or conflictual rather than targeted assertively
- Navigating life transitions such as marriage, children, retirement; life lacking meaning; or unaddressed health concerns.

My training covers many different coaching and counselling techniques including: learning and personality theories, cognitive-behavioural, solution-focussed, narrative, Gestalt, neuro-linguistic programming (NLP), emotionally-focussed or person-centred approaches, along with the Sherpa Coaching technique, the GROW model and the Co-active Coaching model.
If you have a preference we can certainly work with a specific approach, if not, I will tailor what works for your needs, rather than choosing a single method. I work best through open and honest discussion, from a strong analytical and objective perspective and a well-studied interest in people, psychology and the mind. This has allowed me to develop high awareness and problem-solving abilities which have been incredibly useful in making improvements in my own and others' lives.
